A few words of sanity…

A few words of sanity…

I’ve been thinking about trying to put some similar thoughts into words recently – but Sarah Williams of sixwilliams.com has done it so perfectly I cant improve on this and just had to share!  Every mum/mom/human being in 2016 should read this…

A Perfect Mom Is The Worst

Its about remembering the way we were all brought up people – and sticking to our gut feel about the the best (and easiest!) way to parent, the way our mums and dads brought us up.

I would say I had a very typical, comfortable, middle class and therefore privileged childhood. And I DEFINITELY remember many hours sitting in the back seat of our car with my younger brother, the window cracked, driving each other crazy, while my mum went into the shops or finished up at work. Or while my dad popped in to the golf cub ‘to pick something up’ (no women or children in the clubhouse, the bad old days!). I remember a multi-pack of Yorkie bars from the Esso garage being a very special Friday night treat. I remember spending great swathes of the weekend sitting on the warm tarmac of our driveway, just playing…  and I also remember that childhood as being magical.

    1. Love your site Sarah – and just re-reading this article has helped me at the end of another day of imperfect parenting! Sorry for delayed response, hopeless at blog-management/writing right now 🙂
